Camping Safari Packing List

Below is a list of items Duma Explorer recommends bringing on a camping safari. The car roof is open during game drives, but we do provide a canvas cover for shade. Although each car has a general first-aid kit, we recommend that you bring your own medical supplies. Duma Explorer will not provide any prescription medicines during any part of the trip.

Although there are no luggage weight restrictions on safari (unless you are taking a local flight), please try to limit how much you bring on safari. Excess luggage is placed on the front roof of the car, and high luggage piles may limit your game viewing. You will be able to leave excess luggage in Arusha. Please pack your luggage in soft duffel bags as they are easier to pack in the vehicle. We recommend that you keep a small day pack in the car that contains the following items: lightweight rain jacket, 2 liters of water (included in price of safari), camera, film, binoculars, guide books, sunblock, lunch, extra layer, passport, money. You will not have access to the luggage on the roof until you reach the campsite after your game drive. You will have the opportunity to buy souvenirs on safari so if you plan to make purchases, plan your money accordingly.

During camping safaris, Duma Explorer provides tents, sleeping mattresses, tables and chairs. Rental items: Sleeping bag ($20 each), waterproof jackets and other clothing ($10 each)
