Cultural Tours

Duma arranges cultural tours to several locations around Arusha. Both day and overnight trips are available. During day trips, visit a village close to Arusha. Visit traditional homes, learn local customs, walk through farms and talk with village residents. Many cultural tours visit coffee and banana farms on the slopes of Mounts Meru and Kilimanjaro. Half day hikes are available on most day trips, making the cultural tour an ideal acclimatization day for Kilimanjaro or Meru. Day trips are available that visit the following tribes: Waarusha, Wameru, Wachagga and Wamaasai. Waarusha, Wameru and Wamaasai trips are in Arusha Region while Wachagga trips visit Kilimanjaro Region.

For those interested in an in-depth cultural tour, we recommend visiting Lake Eyasi and the Hadzabe tribe. Two hours outside Arusha, the Hadzabe are one of two hunter gatherer tribes left in Arusha. We recommend spending two nights with the Hadzabe, learning how to hunt, cook and make instruments and weapons during the day.
