About Our Kili Staff

Each of our mountain guides has a minimum of seven years of experience hiking Kilimanjaro while most of our porters, assistant guides and cooks have at least five years of experience. During a Kilimanjaro climb, hike with at least one head guide, an assistant guide, cook and several porters. Duma Explorer has permanent mountain staff, and many of our employees have worked with us since 2004. Our total mountain crew is approximately 70 people, consisting of guides, assistant guides, cooks and porters. Many of our assistant guides and cooks began their careers with Duma Explorer as porters.

Three of Duma's head guides are Wilderness First Responder certified and twenty porters, assistants, and cooks have first aid training.
