Lobo Wildlife Lodge
Like all Wildlife Lodges, Lobo has an excellent location. It is situated on a rocky hilltop 80km north of the Central Serengeti. The views from the lodge (and the lodge's pool) are beautiful and Rock Hyrax and Vervet Monkey often hang out around the common areas. Like the Seronera Wildlife Lodge, the common areas of the lodge are very nice and offer panoramic views of the Serengeti. However, the rooms are in a serious state of disrepair and the lodge's water is brown.
The lodge has 75 rooms and can accommodate around 150 people. Electricity is available during the mornings and evenings and is shut off at 12am. There is a TV lounge, bar and restaurant. Due to the current condition of the lodge, it is often empty. Tanzania Hotels and Lodges, Lobo's owner, is currently renovating Lobo and we have been told that 70% of the rooms have been renovated. However, the water pipes have not been entirely changed and the water is still brown. Duma will not recommend this lodge until it is entirely renovated.
Lobo is one of the cheapest lodges in the Serengeti, and it is the least expensive accommodation by at least $100 per person in the Northern Serengeti. Lobo's location is ideal for game drives in late July, August and September when the migration is moving back to the Maasai Mara.
