1. Duma's Parnerships with Non-Profit Organizations
Duma offers discounted safaris and Kilimanjaro treks to volunteers
and nonprofit groups and donates a portion of its proceeds to local
Tanzanian community groups. Over the last year, Duma Explorer has
strengthened and expanded its partnerships with local and international
nonprofit organizations in the Arusha area.
In July and August of 2004, Duma will operate its first volunteer safari program for Outlook Expeditions (www.outlookexpeditions.co.uk), a UK- based nonprofit organization that provides life skills development programs for young people. Twenty-four students and expedition leaders will volunteer with Duma-supported Shinda Basic School in Arusha and Mkombozi Centre for Vocational Training in Moshi before embarking on a seven day Kilimanjaro climb and two day safari with Duma.
Over the last year, Duma Explorer has continued to work closely with the US-based nonprofit Global Service Corps (www.globalservicecorps.org). Global Service Corps sends volunteers to Arusha, Tanzania to work on HIV prevention and sustainable agriculture programs. During June, July and August of 2004, Duma will provide safaris and Kilimanjaro climbs for more than forty volunteers and Global Service Corps staff.
Duma Explorer has continued to provide discounted safaris for other volunteer organizations such as the Peace Corps and Visions in Action. By providing discounts, Duma ensures that those who are visiting Tanzania to assist wtih development programs are able to see the wonders of Tanzania's national parks.
