1. Shinda Basic School Update

With donations from Duma Explorer's 2004 proceeds, the Shinda Basic School built a well that will be used to water the trees that have been planted on the school's three-acre property. When the land was bought, it was a treeless flat stretch bordering the community of Sokon 1 Ward. The students of the school assist teachers and volunteers in tree-planting projects. Duma Explorer clients are welcome to visit the school before or after a safari.

The Shinda Basic School now has two classrooms and an Edutainer. There are an additional two classrooms and two offices that are under construction to which Duma Explorer contributes building funds. There are 106 children now enrolled at the school from nursery school to fifth grade.

2. Help Send Daud Hashim to School

Stacy Readal, Duma's US president, coordinated a fundraising effort for Daud Hashim, a secondary school student in Tanzania. She raised US $1,200 that will be used to pay for two years of Advanced Level education. Daud will be studying liberal arts and international relations in Babati, Tanzania, beginning in April of this year. During her days as an HIV/AIDS coordinator, Stacy Readal worked with Daud at an Arusha secondary school. Many of Daud's donations came from former Duma Explorer clients. If you are interested in making future school donations, please contact us, by simply replying to this email.
