1. Wildlife Update
Due to changing weather patterns in Northern Tanzania, the wildebeest migration has behaved strangely over the last few years. Traditionally, the migration moves from Kenya to Tanzania in December and then returns to Kenya in July and August via the northwestern corridors. However, due to heavy rains in Tanzania, the migration over the last few years has stayed in the Serengeti much longer than expected. As this year has been one of the wettest years in recent memory, it is expected that the migration will stay in Tanzania through September. The wildebeest, which have split into several groups, are in the western and southern parts of the Serengeti. The largest group is located between Naabi Hill and Seronera. As there has been another heavy rain in the southern Serengeti, it is expected that this group will remain in the park for quite a long time.

The rains should provide excellent wildlife viewing throughout the summer months. Every year, the wildebeest migration moves from the Maasai Mara to the Serengeti. As they move, they follow the rains that bring fresh new grasses. May and June are thought to be the most dramatic months in which to view the famous wildebeest migration. It is during these months that the wildebeest run in long tight lines following the rains. The lines, which can sometimes reach ten miles in length, are a spectacular sight for any visitor to see.
