The snows of Mount Kilimanjaro

The snows of Mount Kilimanjaro

At 5895 meters above sea level, Mount Kilimanjaro is the world's largest freestanding mountain. Machame and Marangu (coca cola route) are the two most traveled routes up Kilimanjaro, Marangu being the easier of the two. All routes up Kili venture through rain forest, alpine desert, ending at the glacier covered peak of Kilimanjaro. A hike up Marangu includes accommodation in huts while Machame has campsites. Duma Explorer recommends a six-day hike on Kilimanjaro, allowing a day for trekkers to acclimatize.
