Part of Arusha National Park, Mount Meru is Tanzania's second highest mountain, standing at 4,566 meters (14,990 feet). A climb up Mount Meru offers stunning panoramic views of the Rift Valley, the horseshoe-shaped Meru crater, the forests of Arusha National Park, and Meru's famous neighbor, Mt. Kilimanjaro. Because many visitors to Tanzania choose to summit the more popular Kilimanjaro, Meru climbers often have the mountain to themselves.
