Wildlife Lodges

lodge with pool photo Lodge safaris consist of accommodation in lodges and some budget tented camps during the clients' entire stay in Tanzania. Some lodges have swimming pools like this one shown to the right. Each lodge is unique and several lodge options are available. These lodge safaris are booked at the Wildlife Lodges and tented camps including Tarangire Tented Camp and Ikoma Bush Camp.

Duma Explorer strives to frequent only those lodges that are environmentally friendly, and many of the lodges use solar energy, compost waste and build using locally available natural materials. Except for Wildlife Lodges, most of the lodges in Duma itineraries are extremely private and can accommodate up to only forty people at one time. Rooms in tented camps are in individual private bungalows or canvas tents.

At many of the lodges, night game drives and walking safaris can be arranged. During night game drives, you will spot nocturnal animals including many cat and bird species. You may also see several species of elusive chameleons. During walking safaris, lodge staff teach about local cultures and traditions, as well as provide information on the plant and birdlife. Some lodges have geology specialists on staff.

photo of Ikoma lodge During a lodge safari, you will leave the lodge in the morning for a morning and afternoon game drive. You may return to the lodge for a hot lunch on some days. Duma will always have you back at the lodge in time to view the beautiful African sunset.

Lodge Safaris include:
- All entrance fees, lodge fees and administrative costs.
- 4WD Land Rover or Land Cruiser transportation including unlimited mileage on safari.
- Experienced drivers, guides and cooks (each employee has at least five years experience in the safari industry).
- All meals and drinking water (vegetarian and vegan meals are available for those with special dietary needs).
- Tables and chairs for picnics.
