Safari: Detailed Packing List

Below is a list of items Duma Explorer recommends bringing on safari. As the car roof will be open during game drives, it is imperative that you bring sunblock and protective clothing. A hard-brim hat also offers more protection from the sun as a floppy-brim hat will not hold firm when the car is moving. Although each car has a general first-aid kit, we recommend that you bring your own medical supplies. Duma Explorer will not provide any prescription medicines during any part of the trip.

Although there are no luggage weight restrictions on safari, please try to limit how much you bring on safari. Excess luggage is placed on the front roof of the car, and high luggage piles may limit your game viewing. You will be able to leave excess luggage in Arusha. Please pack your luggage in soft duffel bags as they are easier to pack in the vehicle. We recommend that you keep a small day pack in the car that contains the following items: rain gear, 2 liters of water, camera, film, binoculars, guide books, sunblock, lunch, extra layer, passport, money. You will not have access to the luggage on the roof until you reach the lodge/campsite each night. You will have the opportunity to buy souvenirs on safari so if you plan to make purchases, plan your money accordingly.

During camping safaris, Duma Explorer provides tents, sleeping mattresses, tables and chairs.
