It is my pleasure to recommend Hezron D. Mbise to you as a guide. I spent the month of December 1999 in Moshi, Tanzania, and as part of the visit Mr. Mbise took me and my daughter and two other women on safari to Lake Manyara, the Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater. Although going on safari was not a priority for me when I went to Tanzania, because of the wonderful adventure Hezron provided I now am a convert and would say that a safari is an experience not to be missed.
Hezron worked with my daughter to design a trip catering to the specific needs and interests of four very different women involved: a 52 year old, slow-moving, non-Swahili speaking American; a very perky, mid-30s Tanzanian who spoke little English and had never been on safari; a 20 year old, active of mind and body, English and Swahili speaker; and a 15 year old, sometimes petulant and/or bored American adolescent. Hezron and a driver worked diligently to provide sightings of all the animals requested and accommodated my mid-trip, special request to visit Olduvai Gorge. Our campsites were excellent, the food delicious, the days full of good information and good humor. We returned from our 5-day safari very satisfied by what we had seen, what we had been taught, and especially by how we were treated.
In addition, I was impressed by Hezron's character. He established order and set limits immediately and easily, and yet adapted smoothly to our wish to alter routines by involving ourselves in his cooking, setting up and striking camp, moving out early one morning and not so early the next. His solid, calm manner appeases any safety concerns and kept the group moving in harmony. Most of all, I appreciated his quick wit and good sense of humor.
Because he is an enterprising young man with a goal and is determinedly pursuing it (establishing his own safari company after nine years of working for others), I am very pleased to support his efforts.
Sincerely,
Sara H. Koury
