I came to know Hezron while I was a volunteer from July 1999 to July 2000 in Moshi, Tanzania. I met him through a mutual friend and Hezron himself became a dear person in my life. He is one of the most motivated, hard working, generous, thoughtful persons I came to know during my time in Tanzania. He is always enthusiastic about learning about other cultures, is personable, easy going and always a pleasure to be around.
I highly recommend Hezron as a safari guide. Although (somewhat regretfully), I did not have the time away from my project to go on safari, I was present during several occasions while Hezron was preparing for safari. This included observing him spending ample time with individuals discussing itinerary and details and seeing him prepare for food and supplies. Customizing the experience according to the individual or group's wishes is central to how Hezron delivers to his clients.
In addition, I have watched Hezron build his own business at a relatively young age with the few resources he had, gathering his crew in a very thoughtful way from experienced individuals he has met over the many years he has worked in the safari industry. As I am sure you know, life in Tanzania is very hard, and for someone to take the initiative and be genuinely dedicated to the the work they do as Hezron does, amidst day to day survival, is rare.
During my time in Tanzania, several of my close friends and their family members went on safari with Hezron and they only had wonderful things to say. They not only had an amazing experience in the African landscape, they made a new friend. Many of them are still in touch with Hezron.
