How Much Are Park Fees in Tanzania?

Park fees constitute a major cost of any safari or Kilimanjaro climb. The Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) sets entry fees for all national parks, while the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) manages fees for Ngorongoro. The fees listed below were last updated by TANAPA effective July 1, 2021. As of this writing, no new fee schedule has been announced, and these rates remain valid until further notice.

A note on future changes: While the Tanzanian government is supposed to provide 12 months' advance notice of park fee increases, some increases have been announced just months before peak season begins (most park fee changes take effect on July 1 of any given year). If any fee increases are announced between the time you book and the time you travel, we will communicate the changes promptly and any adjustments will be reflected on your final invoice before departure. For the latest official information, refer to the Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) website.

All park entry fees are charged in 24-hour increments, while campsite fees are charged on a nightly basis. In addition to entry and overnight fees, many activities — such as night game drives, walking safaris, canoe safaris, and balloon landings — also incur separate park fees that are added to the activity cost. For example, a night game drive from Hilala Camp in Tarangire National Park is $100 per person plus the $59 park fee, for a total of $159 per adult.
